I started writing fanfic when I was in the middle of an artistic drought in other areas of my life. As a theatre artist, writing these stories allowed me to exercise the same muscles I used when acting and directing: developing a character within certain given guidelines, building relationships with given histories, developing settings within known parameters, and so on. Expanding the stories I saw on my TV allowed me to delve deeper into the characters, and take them further without sacrificing their integral essence.

I wrote fairly prolifically for about a year--if you look, you'll see that most (if not all) of my writing was posted during 2006. And then, as often happens, real life stepped in, and being an active part of the online fandom became less of a priority.

I still read (and re-read) my favorites regularly, though, and every now and then, inspiration will strike for something new. I have probably half a dozen beginnings of stories saved on my computer; maybe one of these days, I'll revisit them and turn them into something.
