Summary: A Rory and Jess story.
When Rory was very young something traumatic happened to her to cause her to quit speaking. After awhile she started again, but with a terrible stutter. She only speaks to Lorelai, Luke, and Lane. She has a tendency to get made fun of by her classmates because of her refusal to speak, preferring to just read book after book instead. She has been seeing a speech therapist for years, but has not made much progress due to her lack of participation and unwillingness to cooperate. That is until Luke's troublesome nephew moves to town. Rory is instantly drawn to him, but he is very rude to her initially as he is not too keen on the idea of living in Stars Hollow. He comes around and starts to really like the girl he's never heard speak. He slowly gains her trust through a mutual love of books and punk music. He encourages her to speak and never makes fun of her stutter. He begins to notice how much others make fun of her and is always out to protect her. As they grow more attracted to each other, he helps her overcome her stutter and shows her just how much she is worth.
